Movement is key to managing osteoarthritis, and at KICK, we guide you through gentle, joint-friendly exercises. Our focus is on helping you maintain mobility and reduce stiffness without putting unnecessary strain on your joints. We'll show you how to move in ways that feel good and support your body.

 

I – Improve Strength & Stability

Building strength around your joints is crucial for protection and support. Our exercises are designed to help you build muscle and improve your stability, which can significantly reduce discomfort and help prevent falls. You'll gain confidence in your movements and feel more secure in your daily activities.

 

C – Choose Comfort Over Pain

We empower you to be in tune with your body. At KICK, you'll learn how to modify movements, listen to your body's signals, and avoid activities that trigger flare-ups. Our goal is to help you find sustainable ways to stay active without pushing through pain.

 

K – Kindness to Joints & Self

I am dedicated to empowering individuals to create sustainable lifestyle changes that enhance their health, independence, and longevity.

​

With over 20 years of experience in fitness, recreation, and rehabilitation, I've worked with a wide range of individuals — from teaching three-year-olds how to skate, to leading kickboxing classes, to coordinating and delivering SMART exercise programs for older adults and people with disabilities.

 

Regardless of age or ability, my mission remains the same: to help people move better, feel stronger, and live more fully. I believe that empowerment isn’t just about helping someone - it’s about giving them the tools and confidence to make healthy choices on their own.

​

I am passionate about fitness and have witnessed firsthand how small beginnings can lead to life-changing transformations.

 

I know that frailty is not inevitable — it is often reversible — and that it’s never too late to start. That said, the earlier we incorporate movement into our lives, the more we can reduce the risk and severity of chronic conditions like osteoarthritis.

I bring encouragement, experience, and energy to every session, helping participants move at their own pace while gaining strength, confidence, and comfort in their joints.

Are scheduled for a total joint replacement (TJR) due to hip or knee (OA) or have you already had hip or knee surgery?

​

This program emphasizes on preforming exercises with correct form.  A key part of this is making sure your hip, knee and foot are properly aligned during each movement.  A personal trainer specialist will be there to guide you to make sure your knee is aligned over your foot, not in appropriately placed to the side. 

​

Whether you're preparing for surgery, recovering, or just want to improve your strength and mobility while protecting your joints.  Kelly will meet you where you are and guide you every step of the way.

Common Symptoms: Do you have stiffness, reduced range of motion, pain (with weight-bearing, at rest), red/hot/swollen joints Develop slowly, instability/looseness,

​

OA of the Knee: Do you have pain with weight-bearing, stiff/unstable leg, crunching/clicking, reduced range of motion. Pain sites: above knee, inner/outer knee, lower leg.

​​

OA of the Hip: Do you have pain when weight-bearing, reduced range of motion. Pain sites: outer hip/groin, inner/outer thigh, above/inside knee.

​​

Impact on Daily Life: Does it affect leisure activities, physically demanding jobs, playing with children, changing direction, putting on socks/shoes, prolonged standing/walking, stairs.

Fatigue: A common symptom.

​​

Good new is... frailty is not inevitable.  In fact, it is reversible.  The gains in strength can be made at any age over a lifetime - exercise being the universal prescription.

What to Expect in a Session

​​

KICK - Live Better Stronger Longer training session lasts about 60 minutes and includes three main parts: a warm-up, a circuit program, and a cool-down.

​​

In this program, we’ll teach you how to perform everyday functional movements, such as navigating stairs and getting in and out of a seated position properly. Many people don’t do these movements correctly, but by learning these simple tips, you can alleviate knee and hip problems. You’ll experience significant improvements in pain reduction and mobility.​​​​
